Diverse in style and sound, the six track project blends jazz, soul, and R&B and sees Amalie exploring a variety of situations where she’s been forced to ‘lay down’ and succumb to love, mental health and societal pressures.
“This EP reflects how our moods and strengths in life fluctuate. At the end of the day, we are all human. Sometimes I want to put my armor on and scream ‘NO’ at the top of my lungs and other times I just want to stay quietly in bed because I’m a ‘Slave To My Mind’. The songs on this EP in many ways have helped define the woman I am today and I hope it also inspires others to push the boundaries of our collective internalised perceptions in a way that confronts the thought-provoking topics and introspective dialogues I’ve spoken about.”
